The uniquely designed Poppy Dress was a special event undertaken by the Appeals to encourage our communities to ‘Remember In November.’
The 1950’s Doris Day Poppy Dress was generously designed and made by Helen Manuell of Project Runway fame. The dress took nearly 100 hours to make and featured more than 2000 individual poppies.
The spectacular creation represents the carefree memories of a decade without war and was worn by Penny Foster, grand-daughter of WWII POW Jack Bell, in honour and remembrance of our veterans.
The dress was also proudly worn by our Olympic gold medallist Giaan Rooney.
Thanks to the Herald Sun and the Geelong Advertiser for the stunning photos you see along the top of this page.
The idea was to create a Doris Day 1950s sun dress that would bring back the happy, carefree memories of a decade without war
